Get to Know Us

The central focus of our life together is the communion table, where we gather every week, believing that God invites everyone to share in this symbolic meal that celebrates community and the life and ministry of Jesus, whose ways we try to follow.

We practice baptism by immersion; however, we honor all forms of baptism, accepting into membership people baptized by other means and people who have chosen not to be baptized.

Most of our teaching and preaching focuses on the Bible, although we believe sacred texts and stories from other traditions are valuable and have a lot to teach us.

We take the Bible seriously, though not always literally, considering the mind and heart equal partners in faith. We believe the Bible is not a history book, filled with facts, but a book of different literary genres, filled with truth.

We know that Christianity is not the only faith tradition represented in our community or the world. We also know there are many different representations of Christianity. We seek to be good neighbors and partners with all people, from many different traditions.

We are certain God reveals Godself to human beings in more ways than we can imagine!

We fully welcome all people into the life of the church, valuing diversity in culture, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, ability, and theology.

We believe God loves diversity and created each of us unique, in God's image.

DCC belongs to the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) denomination. Here is an excerpt from the denomination's identity statement:

"We are Disciples of Christ, a movement for wholeness in a fragmented world.

As part of the one bodyof Christ we welcome all to the Table of the Lord."
